We can help administer an Estate by establishing the extent of the Estate; collating information required for any inheritance tax; preparation of any relevant HMRC application for inheritance tax; drafting of oath for executors or administrators; applying for the Grant of Probate/Representation; discharging any tax liabilities, debts and legacies; distribution of the residue of the estate.

 

On average a probate matter takes between 6 – 12 months although it can take longer in complex Estates and where unanticipated delays occur.

 

We estimate our costs to be 3% of the value of the estate with a minimum charge of £1,000.  These charges are exclusive of VAT.

The disbursements (these are costs payable to third-parties that relate to your matter) generally in a probate matter include the following: -

 

• £100 fee (estimated) to advertise in The London Gazette or a Local Newspaper – This is to notify any unknown creditors of the probate and thus protect against unexpected claims.

• £7 fee to swear an oath per executor

• £155 Court Fees to obtain a grant of probate and a charge of 50p for each additional copy of the probate
